Hyakko – Episode 1 and Impressions
October 2, 2008
Very nice anime that turned out just like I expected
Prepare for a wall of images from the first episode and a brief review
I’ll keep blogging about this anime probably ^_^
Genres: comedy, slice of life
Plot Summary: The story follows the antics of four high school freshman girls, after they enroll into a huge private academy that teaches every grade from elementary school to high school.
Opening
- Aya Hirano as Ayumi Nonomura
- Yup, why not introduce a character by making her jump out of the window :P
- Yes, she landed well, but turning around failed
- Those things actually make a sound when they move lol
- Let’s try the window
- Busted!
- People, never do this to your teachers!
- Fajing in action
- Revenge!
- Next Episode of Hyakko. Ikebana! :)
Ending (Aya Hirano)
You’ll quickly notice the storyboarding experience of Michio FUKUDA in action. The episode is pleasantly filled with shots from many different angles and interesting screen splits make the story more fun. Background art is warm and beautiful yet not too detailed or coldly photorealistic like in some other modern shows. Piano, acoustic guitar, and violin music nicely flow with the scenes and Vivaldi is always a plus
Aya Hirano (Haruhi, Konata) and other voice actors perform quite well. I’ll have to listen more to determine which one I like the most. The plot involves some kind of school settings and reminds me of Azumanga in a way, but I don’t really care at this point because the anime looks and sounds wonderful. Probably, I’ll be blogging about this anime regularly
See what other anime are starting this season:

- New Anime Fall 2008: October, Week 2

This looks like a pretty interesting anime, that seems definitely entering!
I especially enjoyed the joke you described in the episode where the character makes a perfect entrance to the series by jumping out the window and landing without any injuries, but then fails to simply turn around X)
I really like the animation style as well!
Yes, I enjoyed the style very much
That scene was executed very well
This work is very sensible to me in the direction of the felt. The future will be how to proceed. The first story in this time, Tatsuki is the best of my favorite characters.
I really liked this anime
Yup, we’ll see how the future episodes will look like. I believe you are referring to Tatsui. Yes, she is an interesting character, and I like her voice actor
yeh, Michiko Neya’s acting was very attractive. ^^
[...] Notes: – Easy to mistype as Hayakko – Directed by Michio FUKUDA. It seems like his directorial debut after extensive experience storyboarding: Death Note, Honey and Clover, Le Chevalier D’Eon, Ouran High School Host Club, Pani Poni Dash, ROD TV, Welcome to the NHK. – See many screenshots and my brief impression of the first episode of Hyakko [...]
