Shangri-La Anime Episode 1: Lolis at War!
April 5, 2009
Shangri-La 1
- Ah, excellent! From the fist shots it is clear what this anime is really about!
- Indeed, while filming someone descending stairs, it is very important to focus on this area >.>
- haha That was cute :)
- Oh yes! When a girl is out of a prison, the first question must be about the munes >.>
- I like Momoko’s voice actor :)
- She jumped like that on purpose to show it…
- Right…
- An army of butlers! D: That’s what happens when you don’t have Sebastian :P
- Wow… Her rage is easily triggered…
- Terrible haircut…
- I also liked Rie Ishizuka voicing Sayako :)
- This shot is very interesting. Compare it to the version they released before.
- Ah, bullet dodging is a must!
- Tanks? No problem!
- Oh, honey, you are missing something! Let’s fix it! >.>
- It is raining men! :P No, this time it is not a false alarm

Kenichi Yoshida (novel)

Range Murata

Kumi Ishii
The transition from lineart to animated version is not too bad, but I prefer Yoshida’s design.
Overall, the episode didn’t fail, but it is unlikely that I’ll cover this anime…

Her skirt is so… short O__o Which is I think they made it like that for some reasons >.>
Indeed, they designed it very well to suit the purpose
Could have been better. Really. About the character design preference, I like both Murata Range’s and Yoshida’s but I think Gonzo suits Murata Range more. If it was Bones though, Yoshida, for sure.
Yes, definitely could have been better.
That’s a good point about Gonzo and Bones. I really liked character design in Xam’d
Hmm, I’ll be checking out this episode later today. That green hair woman looks scary though. xD
Regarding the lineart, my preference is for Yoshida’s design. The girl appeared less lolified (if there’s even such a word…lol)in the novel version.
haha Momoko is great!
Yes, I also dislike the lolified version. The Murata’s lineart looks fine actually, but once you see animated version and her personality…
I’ll give Kumi a B+ for the adaptation of the murata design. maybe after seeing the episode i might raise the grade!
you were looking forward to this, now you say it’s unlikely. Is it the loli aspect??
The adaptation was not too bad.
Well, once you combine fanservice, slicing tanks and dodging bullets with boomerangs, hyperactive personality and schoolgirl outfit of the protagonist, and lolis with great powers, it will be not a pretty package… The only characters I like somewhat are Sayoko and Momoko. The whole thing reminds me of Yozakura Quartet…
I might skim some further episodes for some May’n songs though.
Okay… I’m not very optimistic about this one now
but I’ll try it anyway.
Although spaceships/mechas will be sorely missed to counteract the hyperactive loli effect. Tanks are good, but not that good.
haha Well, there might be spaceships later on
Ranka was better designed than this one
Perhaps that teddy bear-clutching bitch selling carbon permits should be subjected to the “Eric Matthews treatment”
That’s too evil, poor loli! If that happens, you don’t want to see teddy bear’s wrath
