“Weightless” by Marconi Union
Musical group Marconi Union and Lyz Cooper, the UK’s leading therapeutic sound practitioner, have released what they claim is the world’s most relaxing music. They contend that the calming effects of “Weightless” are not subjective but are based on scientific evidence. The music was found to cause brainwaves and heart rate to synchronize with the rhythm, reduce blood pressure and lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol. In fact, Scientists played the song to 40 women and found it to be 11% more effective at helping them relax than songs by Enya, Mozart and Coldplay. The eight-minute track is so effective at inducing sleep, motorists have now been warned they should not listen to it while driving. (Slashdot)
I have not read the study in great detail, but note who was in their sample, sample size, and the effects size. What is relaxing for one person may not work for another. Nevertheless, it is worth a try, and I do have to say that I found “Weightless” enjoyable and relaxing.

I’m a bit disappointed with “weightless”. It doesn’t sound that relaxing to me!! if u ever want some enjoyable instrumental music, definitely check out the Japanese group S.E.N.S!!
Yes, SENS are great! Enjoyable may not necessarily be relaxing and vice verse, and what is enjoyable or relaxing varies among people.
Hmm… The most relaxing music the world huh? I dunno about that but to me, Weightless may work its sleep magic if one had difficulty trying to fall asleep. The monotony of the composition may uhm…bore the person to sleep. LoL. But, it’s true that what is relaxing and enjoyable for one may not be the same for the other. I happen to think that ‘Ikoku Meiro no Croisée: La croisée dans un labyrinthe étranger Original Soundtrack’ enjoyable and relaxing. KoKoYa’s music is always pleasant to listen to. I could sleep to it.
The continuous melody, the researchers said, induces a relaxing, safe feeling. Oh yes, I also liked KoKoYa’s music
