Relatively few new anime came out in September, but October will be very different ๐Ÿ™‚ Many people posted their expectation and previews of the new anime season. Since Fall anime season 2008 is quite copious, a task of previewing all anime at once is too enormous for me. Thus, I’ll tackle it one week at a time with brief summaries. Vote in a poll and please let me know what are your plans! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am going to list all the shows scheduled for the first week of October as documented by Anime News Network (read this post for week 2), and then I’ll give you brief synopsis with my thoughts and notes about each anime with links to first impressions and screenshots for some of the shows.

Toradora! (Wednesday – October 1)

Genres: comedy, romance, slice of life

Plot Summary Despite Ryลซji Takasu’s gentle personality, his eyes make him look like an intimidating delinquent so he is utterly hopeless about his chances of getting a girlfriend anytime soon, and does not have many close friends either. After being greeted by his hungover mother in the morning, Ryลซji goes to school and is happy to find that he gets to be in the same class as his best friend Yลซsaku Kitamura and crush Minori Kushieda. However, it is then that he unexpectedly knocks into “the school’s most dangerous animal of the highest risk level” โ€” Taiga Aisaka โ€” who just happens to also be in his class, and is a good friend of Minori.

– Based on light novels

– Two Japanese TV stations censored the first episodes

Noramimi 2 (Wednesday, October 1)

Casshern manages to kill Luna, plunging the world into a slow descent of annhilation. Hundreds of years later, humanity is almost extinct. Robots constantly replace their body parts, fearing the corrosion of rust: their only form of death. In this wretched time and place, Casshern returns after a lengthy disappearance since his murder of Luna. Having lost his memory, Casshern now defends the humans from the robots, and find out his true identity and purpose. Cassern is about a cyborg who rises against the robotic armies that have subjugated all of humanity.

The president of LME puts her into a new section made for those who caught his eye but have something missing. It’s name… Section Love Me.

– I find the mangaart quite interesting, especially the hair. Sometimes the hair look like a hay stack or very artificial, but other times they are just wonderful.

Check out more new fall season 2008 anime coming out in October, Week 2 ๐Ÿ™‚

38 thoughts on “New Anime Fall 2008: Next Week in Anime (October, Week 1)

  1. Eve no Jikan flew completely under my radar the first time around. If Part 1 impresses me – I’ve got it slated for viewing tomorrow – I’m game for Part 2 this fall.

“I have not seen Clannad, so no afterstory for me.”

    Blasphemy. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. The Casshern Sins trailer made me come in my pants a little. ๐Ÿ˜€

I hadn’t noticed Time of Eve yet but I’ll be sure to check it out. Sounds like a show Shirow would make up.

  3. Diego, good that you found out about Eve no Jikan now ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, I dislike Clannad and other Key character designs almost to the same degree I dislike Geass character design, but this is just my opinion – I appreciate opposite views.

Korasoff, looks like I should consider putting a warning or removing that Casshern trailer ๐Ÿ˜›

Yup, all that AI stuff… Not sure if they can pull a good story in a limited amount of episodes though.

  4. I’ve decided I’ll be blogging Clannad After Story, Chaos Head and Rosaria + Vampire Capu2 although I’m going to add Shikabane Hime Aka to that list too I suppose…but I’ll also be watching Yokazura Quartet, Hyakko, Gai Rei Zero. Looks like it’s going to be a busy, but good autumn this year….

  5. Blitzero21, it is good that you have a clear plan on the shows you are going to blog about ๐Ÿ™‚ I still have not made any commitments to the fall anime because I would like to see at least one episode. The only thing that is certain is Xamd because it will span both Summer and Fall.

I am going to post about two shows soon before my batch post on the second week of October. They will air in the second week of October and have some promise, at least in the visual department.

I have not seen Da Capo, but just based on the pictures, it does look similar to Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka.

It looks like autumn will be both busy and fun for you with at least three anime to blog and quite a few more to watch ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. This season is going to kill me…I’m going to crush under the weight of all this good anime and be unable to keep up with blogging! ๐Ÿ˜› There’s just a lot of good anime coming this fall, and I want to watch all of it!

  7. Amayalee, indeed, this season will be very busy, so we must prepare and plan carefully ๐Ÿ™‚ To hold that weight, try to select the anime to blog that you feel especially passionate about ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Instead of a ‘watch list’, I’ve prepared a ‘not-watch’ list (since I’ll probably end up watching tons of shows this October ^_^)…

My ‘not-watch’ list includes Initial D, TT Sunred, Noramimi, Kemeko Deluxe, Hokuto no Ken, Shugo Chara, Macademi Wasshoi, and Rosario to Vampire…

Good choice on picking up Eve no Jikan. The first episode came up with stunning animation and story.

  9. Kanzeon, that is a very good idea actually ๐Ÿ™‚ If you are planning to watch most of the shows, it is much easier to prepare a non-watch list ๐Ÿ™‚

Yup, Eve no Jikan looks quite good ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. There is so many series I plan on watching and I know it’s going to be extremely hard to keep up with, but I just can’t help it X)
This anime season is going to be just too great!

  11. Hey i was wondering if you know any fansubbers gonna be fansubing the ones you recommended cause those are the ones i want to see =D thanks

  12. I don’t keep track of the subbers because I rarely watch subs, but I am sure you’ll see who will do what this week.

Animesuki is a good place to see who is subbing what. You can go to the page of the series you are interested in and see the list of the groups who are subbing it ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. I didn’t expect to see another season of Jigoku Shoujo, after what happened in the second season ( I cried at the end…damn ) but I really like this anime so it was a good ideea to continue with the series ๐Ÿ˜€

  14. Oh, it looks like Jigoku Shoujo is a touching anime if it made you cry. I cry sometimes too when I watch anime, but it rarely happens ๐Ÿ˜› I’ve seen some of the screenshots of the new season of Jigoku Shoujo – the art looked great ๐Ÿ™‚
