The anime winter season 2009 will have some interesting lineup. Maria Holic intrigued me primarily because it is produced by the Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei team, including voice actors. Check out what my investigation into manga yielded, but complete a quick poll before proceeding 😛

Genres: comedy, romance

Plot Summary: The story centers on a sophomore named Kanako who enrolls in all-girls school because she has a phobia of men and wants to find her destined yuri partner. She meets a captivating freshman named Mariya who fits her criteria — except her seemingly ideal mate happens to be a cross-dressing sadistic boy.

  1. Ok, so the blonde is the trap? And the blue haired one is the maid? Damn, I picked the wrong one then :<

And jeez, is the Winter lineup out already? I feel like the Fall lineup has only just begun.

  2. Yup, the blond is the trap 🙂 Well, the winter lineup is not yet determined completely because we still don’t know the dates, and, in some cases, even the the months some 2009 anime will be released. I am just trying to investigate the show that seem interesting 🙂 Some Fall anime is almost at the midpoint 😛

  3. Im very excited on watching this anime! I think the trap is the blue-haired girl. And the blind girl kinda reminds me of Misa of Deathnote.

  4. Hahaha. Maria Holic. Pretty much already destined to be my favorite anime in winter (pretty sure it’s winter…).

So many people seem to think the blue-haired girl was the trap. I knew right away when I saw an image and heard one was a trap (though it was at a different point in time). The blonde seemed cuter to me and more feminine, therefore…trap.

  5. Yes, Maria Holic is scheduled for winter, January 2009, but we just don’t know the exact date yet.

Ah, I see. Well, FuyuMaiden, it seems you are a professional in this field 😛 Unfortunately, I have not seen many anime with traps, so this will be a new experience for me, but I look forward to it 🙂

  6. FuyuMaiden: Yeah, I shoulda known, the cuter one was definitely gonna be the trap. Damn ><

Anyway, I’m curious about this now, might have to watch it whenever it happens to start airing.

  7. That’s ok, now our knowledge of trapsology is expanded, and we shall not make the same mistake again! 😛

I am going to post an extended outline of all the shows premiering in January and mention the exact date then.

  8. I love this manga. I made a post about this back then. What makes it more better is that it would be animated by Shaft (makers of ef). The sadistic trap was just very funny as well as the yuri-fangirl XD.

  9. Yes, SHAFT has some good people, but the staff vary from project to project. For example, Ef had many different episode directors. The reason I am excited about this anime is because the production team is almost exactly the same as for Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

  10. I heard about this one but was put off by the idea of a boy dressing up as a girl…why can’t it be just two girls?? Anyway, I think I just changed my mind…hahaha
