Sunday when a 65-year-old Saitama man completed the race as his 52nd full marathon in as many days.
The previous mark was 51 marathons in 51 days, set by a 48-year-old Italian man nearly a year ago.
“I don’t feel anything special with this record,” Kusuda said after finishing the race Sunday. “But I’d be pleased if some runners are inspired by what I’ve just done. And I can’t find the words to describe my gratitude to all the people who have helped me.”

Ah, that’s sweet! Reminds me of running the Appalachian Trail (ie http://www.whereskarl.com/ )… I thought they had a race.
Marathons, uwa
Thank you for that link 🙂 Oh wow, that person actually did the running on consecutive days! That is just crazy! Such adventures put a body under extreme stress… As my professor in exercise physiology used to say, “If you put your body under significant strain, it will get back at you eventually.”
I like running, but no plans for a marathon so far 🙂
Well done, Kusuda-san!
I’m an active walker and only a fraction of Kusuda-san’s age, but running for any distance easily puts me out of breath. Even one full marathon is unthinkable in my case – which makes his achievement seem even more incredible.
Yes, his achievement is great 🙂
Doing some exercise is better than doing no exercise at all. Consistency is the key 🙂
I want to get healthy… but that’s crazy!
Indeed, it is best to run a little everyday than prepare for a marathon, run it, and go back to sedentary lifestyle.
Wow..
It is amazing what human spirit is capable of 🙂
