When I was in Japan, the whole North Korean missile crisis dominated local network news – far more so than it featured on the international news channels. Day in, day out, it was all about the big bad “misairu”. I never actually felt under threat, but hearing those incessant references to the missile and the countermeasures the Japanese government set in place did put just a smidgen of concern in me during my visit.
But not enough to take the fun out of things. 😉
It was an important event, but creating such atmosphere is not helpful.
I am glad that it didn’t deter you from enjoying the trip 🙂
