  1. gorgeous song! the soundtrack of both seasons is magnifiscent: poignant and encouraging at the same time. Ef is recommended with flying colours. One of the best anime ever! If you haven’t watched it, you should give it a try.

    1. Indeed, music in Ef is excellent ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you for a recommendation ๐Ÿ™‚ I still have not watched the series, unfortunately, but I do plan to do it sometime later next year ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. This is one of those AMVs where the music severely outclassed the visuals. That and clip spam where if you know the source, it does not go well with ELISA’s song. Besides the poor selection of images, execution of transitions is good and the quality is almost consistent.

Once you watch ef -tale of memories-, you’ll realize how high the standard is set. Once SHAFT-ed, you can’t go back.

    1. Indeed, the music is great, but I don’t think it severely outclassed the visuals. The content and the song might not match perfectly, but the AMV manages to project a feeling quite well. I’ve been looking for a good AMV with this song for a while, but this one is the best so far. I would love to see something that matches this excellent song better ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, SHAFT is really great, but their latest works don’t fit my taste. I really should find time to watch Ef ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I like Tenmon’s compositions for both EF series but in terms of watching the anime, I’d preferred Memories over Melodies.

      1. well, it’s just the end where melodies screw up a bit. i expected sth more mature and not that fairy tale-ish, although in the end that’s the game’s title (fairy tale of the two). Apart from the end though, melodies didn’t stop the surprises with the visual depictions of psychological situations. i think it’s shown some difficult life situations like no other anime. And of course it explains a lot from the first season.

        1. It sounds like you didn’t like the ending of melodies. The ending can have a big impact on the overall perception of the series. What you describe is somewhat similar to Xam’d: depiction of some serious issues, but fairy tale-ish ending.

          1. what it annoyed me a bit is that it turned out to have a metaphysical aspect and i’m an atheist. I wanted sth philosophical yet not a solution that implies divine intervention.Especially after all this suffering of the characters and their own questioning of god. It came out a bit lame. You could say that although I wished too for a happy ending, I wanted a more realistic depiction at the same time.

            1. Yes, that is an important aspect of viewing experience. Sometimes, supernatural powers are integrated very well in a story, but in other times they are misused, distorting the overall impression. This is especially true of stories that try to portray serious realistic issues.
